More than Meets the Eye
If you picture a business development executive, you probably do not picture someone spending weekends caring for a miniature donkey on a 45-acre farm in Tennessee. But Tyler White has never followed the expected path.
As Senior Director of Business Development at Thalocan Research Innovations, Tyler introduces pharmaceutical and biotech companies to solutions designed to improve consistency in dermatology clinical trials. The role draws on more than two decades of enterprise sales experience, but it also feels different from anything he has done before.
A Competitive Spirit
Tyler is candid about what drives him. He loves to win. He is resilient, team-oriented, and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
That competitive energy started long before his sales career. He grew up around the software industry, following his father’s career through several moves before the family eventually settled in California’s Silicon Valley. His father, who led multiple software companies, helped him land his first job as a Sales Development Representative shortly after college, and sales quickly proved to be a natural fit.
An athlete throughout his life, Tyler saw obvious parallels between sports and business. He loved coaching, selling, and teaching, and the combination felt like the right match from the beginning.
Over the years, he built a successful career that included roles with Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco WebEx, and several fast-growing startups. As his career progressed, he moved into leadership, building sales teams and helping others grow in their own careers.

Finding the Right Opportunity
A longtime professional connection eventually led Tyler to Thalocan. He had worked alongside COO Cyrus Mirakhor at multiple companies over the years, so when Thalocan was ready to expand its business development efforts, Cyrus reached out.
The opportunity stood out right away.
“What attracted me to Thalocan was the innovation,” Tyler said.
“Innovation creates differentiation.”
After years of selling products in highly competitive markets, he found himself in a very different position. At Thalocan, he is representing products and services that offer something genuinely distinct in the industry.
Instead of competing mainly on price, he now spends his time helping customers understand how solutions like LAMA® and TAVOS™ can improve the quality and consistency of clinical trial data.
Building Relationships and Results
That consultative approach has long been central to Tyler’s sales philosophy.
“Someone is going to buy from you if they trust you and they like you,” he said. “Building that trust starts long before the first meeting.”
For Tyler, that means understanding a customer’s challenges, researching their business, and approaching every conversation as a trusted advisor rather than a salesperson.
That mindset, along with the work of the growing Thalocan team, is producing results.
When Tyler joined the company in March 2025, he was the first dedicated business development professional on the team. Since then, Thalocan has experienced significant growth, expanding both its customer base and its internal team.
What excites him most is the traction the company has gained in a relatively short period of time. The demand is there, and he sees real momentum in where Thalocan is headed.

Life on the Farm
While Tyler spends his weekdays helping drive Thalocan’s growth, life outside of work looks very different. He and his wife are raising two children, 13-year-old Talin and 10-year-old Phoenix, on a Tennessee farm.
The family relocated from California during the pandemic after deciding they wanted more space and a different pace of life. Today, their 45-acre property is home to ten chickens, a miniature donkey, and two horses named Blossom and Commodore.
Horses have been part of Tyler’s life for decades. As a young rider, he competed at a high level and qualified for the Junior Olympics, one of the highest achievements available to equestrians under the age of sixteen.
These days, horseback riding remains a family activity. Tyler’s daughter rides as well, and the family enjoys exploring nearby trails together. He and his wife are also avid mountain bikers who still make time to hit the trails whenever they can.
Asked what people might be surprised to learn about him, Tyler laughed. The shift from Silicon Valley executive to farm owner is probably not what most people would expect. Neither is owning ten chickens.
Looking Ahead
For Tyler, whether he is building a sales strategy, helping customers solve complex challenges, or repairing a fence on the farm, the motivation is much the same: helping things grow.
At Thalocan, that growth is taking shape through new relationships and increasing awareness of solutions that can make a meaningful difference in clinical research.
It is work built on trust and driven by innovation. For Tyler, it feels like exactly the right place to be.
