Here are some of the topics that were discussed:
1. An AI machine can count six or seven hundred spots on a human body in seconds. That has real value. But the gap between counting or imaging that and actually diagnosing anything is vast.
2. You can hire AI to take the pictures or flag some findings. That does not make you not responsible for the effects. The AI tool is not responsible. The doctor is still responsible.
3. What we build has been called dumb tech. We support manual processes with technology to make the doctor’s job easier, rather than promising to replace the doctor. We are probably never going to do that.
We also got into why endpoint assessments in clinical trials are far more subjective than people assume, why one size fits all software breaks in this space, how skin tone changes what a disease looks like, and why you should fall in love with a problem rather than a product.
